A Brief Word About Therapy
Counseling therapy is a highly collaborative and individualized experience. Therapists receive extensive education and training on the proper use of therapeutic interventions that aid in the guidance process. Clients and therapists work together throughout the counseling process to achieve the client's goals. Therapy works best when the client is actively committed to an agreed upon treatment plan to include realistic goals, relevant interventions, frequency of sessions, homework/practice, and measurable outcomes (i.e. How will you know you are meeting your goals? What will progress look like to you?). I will work with the client to develop the plan in the early stage of counseling and periodically revise it throughout the process. Counseling outcomes cannot be guaranteed, however with some commitment and effort, counseling has been found to be profoundly rewarding for many.
